HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Lt. Col. Kent Furman assumes command of the 301st Fighter Squadron from Col. Donald Lindberg, 44th Fighter Group commander, during an activation ceremony April 9, 2010. The 301st was one of four African-American fighter squadrons to enter combat during World War II and was known as the "Red Tail Angels." The Tuskegee Airman of the 301st FS saw combat in the European Theater of Operations and Mediterranean Theater of Operations from February 1944 to April 1945.
