MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Crew chiefs with the 492nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit, prepare to service the hydraulic system of an F-15E Strike Eagle at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. The 391st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron holds the distinction of being the first sustained F-15E mission assigned to the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. Recently they achieved another historic first after fielding new satellite-based communications systems to improve airborne combat capability. With the new systems, war fighters in the air and on the ground will no longer be limited by line of sight communication, meaning aircrews can now talk to people on the ground anywhere in the world.
