RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- Staff Sgt. Mike Bowles asks a candidate who performs leg lifts why he is at Ramstein's Area Motivational Program. Sergeant Bowles "motivation" method is similar to what Airman Joshua Clendening, 317th Maintenance Squadron, endured during his time at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, in March 2007. This 30-day program is used by commanders to "reblue" airmen basics through staff sergeants whose attitude or behavior has deteriorated, resulting in nonjudicial punishment. Ramstein's program was open from Jan. 2004 to March 2007. Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., are now the only Air Force bases that host remotivation programs.
