A moment's notice: Keeping alert force on their toes

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- The alert maintenance crew dash to their F-16s to prepare them for takeoff on a quick-reaction mission exercise Aug. 11, while Airman Basic Julian Arnold, 20th Security Forces Squadron, checks badges to make sure everyone has proper access. The exercise, with cooperation from the Civil Air Patrol, provides interception training for Shaw's alert force for real-world situations. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. John Gordinier)
