MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Teresa Maughan, an American Red Cross phlebotomist, prepares Senior Airman Albert Pierce, 366th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, to donate blood during a 2007 blood drive. The importance of donating blood was made clear Jan. 23 when the wing provided 25 pints of blood to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. for wounded veterans returning from operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The center, experiencing an acute shortage of blood, was able to provide critical care to returning veterans until their supplies were replenished. (Air Force photo/ Senior Airman Megan P. Lyon)
