Hot refueling

Tech. Sgt. Dennis Thomas, 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, operates a 'dead man' during the hot refueling of an F-22A Raptor July 23 at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. Different from a normal refueling, the crew chief operates the dead man because he has direct communication with the pilot and can stop the refueling at a moments notice if need be.
