DOD makes cents of scraps

Bud Thrift, Timberline Environmental Services third party quality assurance officer, prepares to review a load of crushed bombs at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range, Wedgefield, S.C., Aug. 20, 2015. Every three to five years, contractors inspect spent munitions dropped at the range for explosive hazards and process them to be sold as scrap metal. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Diana M.
