An A-10C Thunderbolt II takes off, Aug. 19, 2016, at Avon Park Air Force Range, Fla. New operating guidelines that were activated June 18, and this is only the fourth time A-10C’s have flown in and out of the range under the guidelines. The new guidelines allow pilots to use visual flight rules when approaching, landing and taking off instead of being instructed and directed by tower personnel.
