301st IS Airman averts potential high school active shooter

An Airman with the 301st Intelligence Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, may have averted a tragedy with his quick thinking, creative use of technology and drive to do the right thing. An Airman 1st Class, administrative apprentice, alerted the appropriate officials when he received a text message from his sibling regarding an alarming social media video. The video showed a Hallandale Beach High School, Miami, Florida, student wielding a handgun with a loaded magazine during a pep rally. A Code Red was immediately initiated and the school was locked down. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Alexandre Montes)
