Hot pit refueling occurs while aircraft engines are running, cutting down on ground time and allowing pilots to quickly return to aerial operations. The 71st RQS conducted an air-to-air refuel with a KC-46A Pegasus assigned to the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina as the first operational unit to be refueled by the KC-46A Pegasus.
