A scrapbook shows a photograph of U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. (Ret.) James D. Hughes, former Commander in Chief of Pacific Air Forces (CINCPACAF), during a July 1978 visit to Yokota Air Base, Japan. Some of Hughes’ military decorations and awards include the Distinguished Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, and the Order of the Sword, which is the highest honor bestowed upon a commander by his or her noncommissioned officer corps.
