911th ARS reactivated at SJAFB
The 911th Air Refueling Squadron has a rich history dating back to 1917. While consolidated with the 411th Bombardment Squadron under the 68th Air Refueling Wing, Gold 11 air crew earned the MacKay Trophy for saving three Marine Corps A-4 jets and a KC-10. They also earned the Maj. Gen. Alfred F. Kalberer Outstanding Airmanship Award Feb 16, 1988. (Newspaper clipping courtesy of the 916th Air Refueling Wing Historian)
