Col. Jared Broddrick, commander of the 71st Surveillance Squadron, gives opening remarks during the squadron’s activation ceremony Aug. 1, 2025. The 71st SURS will be responsible for augmenting the 22nd Surveillance Squadron by providing strategic surge capacity and steady-state mission requirements in support of AFTAC’s global nuclear surveillance mission.
