    Airmen from the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing and the Italian Air Force’s Task Group Typhoon participated in a new immersion program hosted by the 407th Air Expeditionary Group, Feb. 19, 2020, at Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait. The immersion program allows both forces to meet and discuss each nation’s mission strategies while enhancing their skills.

A team of human performance experts is looking at sleep and fatigue from several perspectives. They are tracking sleep habits in pilots and other operators, while also evaluating sleep-monitoring technology to ensure its accuracy and ability to work in an operational setting.

  • 552nd Air Control Wing from Tinker Air Force Base Supports NATO Exercise Trident Juncture 18 in Norway

    An E-3 Sentry aircraft from the 552nd Air Control Wing located Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, took part in missions supporting NATO Exercise Trident Juncture 18, Oct. 31, 2018. The E-3 Sentry is an Airborne Warning and Control System, or AWACS, which is a powerful airborne search and track radar system that provides all-weather surveillance, command, control and communications needed by commanders of U.S. and NATO air defense forces. The radar and other sensors aboard the E-3 provide deep-look surveillance, warning, interception control and airborne battle management.

    U.S. Air Forces Central Command published its monthly Airpower Summary today, highlighting U.S. and Coalition airpower operations in June 2018 in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. In Afghanistan, U.S. Airmen are involved in combat operations as part of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, while U.S. and NATO partners train, advise and assist the Afghan National and Defense Security Forces as part of the Resolute Support Mission.

    Members of the scientific and military communities from approximately 20 NATO countries came together to discuss leading developments in big data and artificial intelligence (AI) at the NATO Science and Technology Organization’s specialists meeting, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Military Decision Making, from May 30 – June 01, 2018 in Bordeaux, France. Deputy Asst. Secretary of the Air Force for Operational Energy, Roberto Guerrero, led the senior leader panel on June 01. Mr. Guerrero spoke of the importance of data collection and analysis for decision-making, while emphasizing the challenge his office faces in obtaining sufficient and accurate aviation fuel use and other operational data.
