  • An inside look at F-35 pilot helmet fittings

    Reservists in the 419th Operations Support Squadron play a crucial role to ensure the safety of pilots assigned to the 419th Fighter Wing, the Air Force Reserve’s only combat-capable F-35 unit. “We are responsible for maintaining and repairing pilot gear to ensure everything is in proper working condition,” said Staff Sgt. AJ Arteaga, aircrew flight equipment reservist with the 419th OSS. “That also includes their helmet.”
  • 34th FS deployment experience proves valuable during recent weapons evaluation

    The 34th Fighter Squadron, along with Reservists from the 419th Fighter Wing, recently completed a weapons system evaluation here, employing a variety of munitions with the F-35A Lighting II. The Weapons System Evaluation Program West, is also known as Combat Hammer.
  • 4th Fighter Squadron returns to Hill after first F-35A combat deployment

    Last week, Airmen from the active duty 388th and Reserve 419th Fighter Wings returned home following a six-month deployment to Al-Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. The 4th Fighter Squadron’s deployment, which started in April, was the first F-35A Lightning II combat deployment. The Airmen supported the United States Air Force Central Command Mission in the region.
