  • Airmen 'Shoot, Move, Communicate'

    Airmen from the 23d Security Forces Squadron conducted “Shoot, move, communicate” training, Feb. 22, 2018, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The training tested participants on their ability to move from barricade to barricade as a team. While one member provided covering fire the others advanced on the enemy, then retreated from the scenario while they maintained cover fire.

  • Pre Ranger Course tests Airmen's will

    The three-day assessment is designed to determine whether Airmen are ready to attend the Air Force Ranger Assessment Course held at Fort Bliss Army Post, Texas. Ranger cadre test Airmen’s physical fitness, tactical abilities, land navigation skills, leadership qualities, water confidence and academic ability to determine if they have the knowledge and will to become Rangers.
  • Airmen wash 'Hawg'

    In addition to mechanical and electrical maintenance, A-10’s must be washed every 180 days or approximately 1,000 flying hours in order to control corrosion caused by residue from the gun and engine exhaust. Airmen sealed off various electrical components prior to the wash to protect them from chemicals within the soap.
  • CBRNE prepares Airmen to deploy

    Team Moody Airmen participated in a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRNE) class, Feb. 1, here. The class was geared towards better preparing the Airmen to combat an enemy attack while also familiarizing them with their mission-oriented protective posture (MOPP) gear.

  • 723d AMXS wraps up HH-60 depot maintenance

    From 16-25 Jan., Airmen from the 723d AMXS performed 216 hours of maintenance on an HH-60 after it returned to Moody following 350 days of depot maintenance at Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville. While at NAS Jacksonville, the HH-60 underwent a complete structural overhaul where it received new internal and external components along with repairs and updated programming.

    During the seven-month deployment the 74th Fighter Squadron flew more than 1,700 sorties, employed weapons over 4,400 times, destroyed 2,300 targets and killed 2,800 insurgents.
  • POL enables faster turnarounds, longer missions

    “With hot-pit refuels we’re prepositioned and they taxi to us and with the engines still running,” said Tech. Sgt. Zachary Beggin, 23d LRS NCO in charge of fuels distribution. “They hookup, refuel and their back up in the air and it decreases ground time by 66 percent.” Less ground time means more time in the air and in the mission. This tactic equips aircrews with the ability to push the operations tempo and also minimize the demand for maintenance support.

    Leadership from Moody Air Force Base came to the Georgia Pines Dining Facility to serve the annual Christmas meal, Dec. 25, 2017, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The meal was an opportunity for Airmen, retirees, dependents and leadership to enjoy a traditional Christmas meal.
