  • Admiral Faller emphasizes to USSOUTHCOM’s air component that teams win

    The Commander of U.S. Southern Command, U.S. Navy Admiral Craig Faller, visited 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) Jan 8-9, 2019. Faller recently took command of the U.S. Southern Command, which is responsible for all Department of Defense security cooperation in the 45 nations and territories of Central and South America and the Caribbean Sea. The visit was meant to integrate and familiarize him with 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), the air and space component to USSOUTHCOM.
  • Air advisors teach Colombian air force to ‘Help Itself’

    The 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron (MSAS) recently conducted a Building Partnerships Capacity (BPC) mission in Bogota, Colombia. The 17-member mobile training team (MTT), including members of the Wyoming Air National Guard and the Colorado Air Force Reserves, executed a four-week joint training mission with the Colombian air force, designed to promote regional stability by fostering key relationships and enhancing partner nation capabilities. Organizations like the 571st MSAS have provided critical instruction that have allowed the Colombian air force to become more capable and self-sufficient.
  • Central American firefighters graduate from exercise CENTAM SMOKE

    Joint Task Force-Bravo hosted Exercise Central America Sharing Mutual operational Knowledge and Experiences (CENTAM SMOKE) 2018-2 at Soto Cano Air Base, September 10-14, with firefighters from the 612th Air Base Squadron fire department and 30 participants from Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, El Salvador, Belize and Nicaragua.
  • Brazil leads Air Component in PANAMAX 2018

    U.S. service members from the 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) and the 612th Air and Space Operations Center participated in the U.S. Southern Command PANAMAX 2018 exercise July 30 – Aug. 10 alongside members from 12 partner nations. The Brazilian Air Force Chief of Joint Air Operations Center, Aerospace Operations Command, Maj. Gen. João Campos Ferreira Filho, served as the Combined Forces Air Component Commander for PANAMAX 2018. This is the third year that a member from a partner nation air force has been the CFACC. The 12 partner nations that participated in the exercise at Davis-Monthan AFB include: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Peru. Polish Air Force members also joined the exercise here as observers.
  • US Airmen teach aircraft recovery to Chilean Air Force partners

    Twelfth Air Force (Air Forces Southern) sent a Mobile Training Team to Chile to conduct training with the Chilean Air Force on Crash Damaged Disabled Aircraft Recovery. The CDDAR Mobile Training Team consisted of four seasoned crew chiefs who have experience being an aircraft crash team chief. The crew chiefs hailed from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona; Hill Air Force Base, Utah and Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. The MTT taught the basic principles of how to preserve the area surrounding an aircraft mishap for an investigation and recover a damaged or disabled aircraft.

  • Honduran, U.S. volunteers conduct underground search and rescue training

    Nearly a dozen Honduran Personal Utilizado en Misiones Contra Incendio y Rescate – Personnel Used in Fire and Rescue (PUMCIR) volunteers and seven U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to Joint Task Force-Bravo at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, conducted a search and rescue exercise in Comayagua National Park near El Volcan, Honduras.
