    Texas, Washington Air National Guard participate in Brazilian-led international exercise

    Brazil kicked off its multinational air combat exercise CRUZEX VII Nov. 18 and invited participation from U.S. and six other partner nations. Guardsmen from the Texas and Washington Air National Guard joined the two-week long exercise and lent support by providing fighter and tanker aircraft as well as personnel from multiple U.S. Air Force job specialties. The exercise fosters cooperation among nation partners while exchanging operational experiences in an effort to promote peace and security when responding to potential events around the world.

    Teamwork leads to mission readiness

    In the military, many times the mission prevails through teamwork; teamwork throughout squadrons, organizations and internally within each shop. With some jobs, teamwork is much more crucial to the specific mission, which is why fire training is so important for the 20th Civil Engineer Squadron fire fighters.

    Deploying mental health care downrange

    Deployed mental health providers play a vital role in delivering medical care downrange, ensuring the health of the warfighter and the mission. Even though service members who deploy are medically ready, both physically and mentally, the rigors of deployment can take a toll.
  • Airmen from different career fields challenge themselves in the Ranger Assessment course which is a combat leadership course which can lead to attending Army Ranger School. The 29 Airmen who began the course came from six major commands and represented security forces, tactical air control party, airfield management and battlefield Airmen specialties. The RAC instructors provide this stress-oriented battle school for airmen to develop better leadership and command tools under the mental, emotional and physical strain. They push the students to improve their resiliency and coping mechanisms.

    The Air Force Security Forces Center, one of AFIMSC’s subordinate units, hosted the Ranger Assessment Course 19-01. Twelve cadre instructors, all having been through the course and graduated Army Ranger School, as well as Army instructors, put the 29 students through the mind-numbing days and nights. The instructors provide this stress-oriented battle school for airmen to develop better leadership and command tools under the mental, emotional and physical strain. They push the students to improve their resiliency and coping mechanisms.

    388th FW drops GBU-49 in combat training

    The 388th Fighter Wing’s 34th Fighter Squadron recently returned from a weapons evaluation exercise at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, where they employed the GBU-49 for the first time in F-35A combat training. The GBU-49 is a laser and GPS guided bomb that can be used in a variety of conditions against many types of moving or stationary targets. During the weapon’s exercise, known as Combat Hammer, teams assessed the readiness of Hill’s weapons crews, maintainers, and pilots as they built, loaded, and employed the F-35As weapons

    The recent delivery of a QF-16 from Boeing to the 82nd Aerial Target Squadron marks an important milestone on the road to Tyndall AFB’s recovery. The QF-16 enables live fire weapons testing in the Joint Gulf Range Complex, which is made up of 180,000 square miles that stretches from Key West to northwest Florida, and allows for joint test and training exercises

    F-35 maintainers at Hill shaping future with BOLT

    After several months, an innovative program in the 388th Fighter Wing is proving it has the potential to deliver combat power more efficiently and may shape how the Air Force determines future requirements to sustain F-35A Lightning II operations. The Blended Operational Lightning Technician program could be described as an Air Force version of a start-up company. BOLT combines six maintenance-specific Air Force Specialty Codes, essentially job descriptions, into two “tracks.” Currently there are more than 30 Airmen in the BOLT program. “Blended” maintainers in the Air Vehicle track are crew chiefs, fuels and low observable technicians. Airmen in the Mission Systems track focus on avionics, weapons, and egress.

    552nd Air Control Wing from Tinker Air Force Base Supports NATO Exercise Trident Juncture 18 in Norway

    An E-3 Sentry aircraft from the 552nd Air Control Wing located Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, took part in missions supporting NATO Exercise Trident Juncture 18, Oct. 31, 2018. The E-3 Sentry is an Airborne Warning and Control System, or AWACS, which is a powerful airborne search and track radar system that provides all-weather surveillance, command, control and communications needed by commanders of U.S. and NATO air defense forces. The radar and other sensors aboard the E-3 provide deep-look surveillance, warning, interception control and airborne battle management.

    388th Fighter Wing completes combat exercise

    The 388th Fighter Wing’s 4th Fighter Squadron and 4th Aircraft Maintenance Unit recently completed a combat exercise where they tested and evaluated their capabilities to operate the F-35A Lightning II in a deployed environment. The units focused on combat operations and tactical scenarios – aircraft battle damage, downed-pilot recovery, and fighting in an environment with limited or no communications. Hill AFB is slated to be home to three F-35 fighter squadrons with a total of 78 aircraft by the end of 2019. The active duty 388th FW and Air Force Reserve 419th FW will fly and maintain the jets in a Total Force partnership, which capitalizes on the strength of both components
