  • Hill F-35 pilots prepare for worst-case water scenarios

    U.S. Air Force F-35 pilots from the 419th and 388th Fighter Wings met with specialists in Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape – better known as SERE – at a local indoor swimming pool near Hill AFB for a hands-on refresher course on how to survive following ejection. That included simulated parachute drags, where pilots must quickly untangle themselves from a downed canopy, and other skills such as employing personal rafts and activating emergency signals.
  • Combat fitness to stay combat ready

    Team Shaw members from the 20th Security Forces Squadron participated in a form of physical fitness designed to target all muscle groups as well as improve endurance and target real life scenarios.
  • F-35A combat readiness celebrated at Hill AFB

    Hill AFB hosted a ceremony Aug. 5 in celebration of the recent announcement that the F-35A Lightning II aircraft is ready for combat. Gen. Hawk Carlisle, the commander of Air Combat Command, declared that the fifth-generation fighter aircraft was "combat ready" Aug. 2. During the ceremony, Carlisle lauded the aircraft’s performance and praised Airmen for getting the aircraft to initial operational capability.
