  • End of an era as final OC-135 aircraft officially retired

    The 55th Wing officially retired its final OC-135 Open Skies aircraft, tail number 670, during a ceremony at the Lincoln Airport June 4, 2021.
  • Transition to Lincoln starts with first aircraft arrival

    Normally a 55th Wing OC-135 Open Skies aircraft landing and taxiing to its parking spot is no a big deal, but this particular landing on Feb. 1, 2021, was unlike any other. This flight was Offutt Air Force Base’s first aircraft arrival to the Lincoln Airport, where the 55th Wing and its mission partners will operate all flying operations from for the next 18 months as contractors replace the base’s runway.
  • Wing earns outstanding unit award

    Air Combat Command recently announced the 55th Wing as a recipient of the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for the time period of June 1, 2015 - May 31, 2016. The OUA is awarded to units for exceptionally meritorious service, accomplishes specific acts of outstanding achievement, excels in combat operations against an armed enemy of the United States, or conducts with distinct military operations involving conflict with, or exposure to, a hostile action by any opposing foreign force.
