Default Air Force Logo Dental team helps keep the bite in the fight
While in a deployed environment Medical Group dental team treat expeditionary Airmen for a variety of ailments. One lesser-known capability that may surprise some is the dental procedures they perform on our four-legged Airmen. This capability was recently tested as the dental team, deployed to an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, performed a dental operation on a military working dog.

Dogs are considered man’s best friend. They have been human companions for hundreds of years – and that’s bond that remains unbroken. Military working dogs are among the unsung heroes of the military and play an important role from therapy dogs supporting service members and veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder to military working dogs supporting operations on and off the battlefield. In the Air Force, their natural skills directly augment members serving in Security Forces Squadrons around the world.

A small team of Airmen from the 577th Expeditionary Prime Beef Squadron have been augmenting the 407th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron structures shop for the past weeks to erect large fabric structures at the 407th Air Expeditionary Group. Although the team is small it gives the 407th ECES a subject matter expert to lead the Airmen assigned here and alleviate some of the stress erecting these structures would put on the unit, according to Senior Master Sgt. William Bryant, 407th ECES operations superintendent.
