    The 2019 INSIGHT Magazine covers the many ways DCMA supports America's National Defense Strategy. This article highlights the agency’s work with the F-35 program. F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter production is about to reach new heights. Low rate initial production 11, or LRIP 11, calls for 141 F-35 aircraft, which is a 67 percent increase from LRIP 10. While production numbers climb, costs continue to fall, as this production run marks the program’s lowest price per aircraft to date.

  • JB Langley surgical team goes 'purple'

    A joint surgical team comprised of three separate branches assembled at U.S. Air Force Hospital Langley at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, in December 2018 to perform an operation. Consisting of a Navy surgeon, Air Force nurse, and Army technician, the team was organized to perform a functional endoscopic sinus surgery to restore a patient’s sinus ventilation to normal function. Providing health care in a joint environment works to improve readiness by ensuring that health care providers have the capabilities they need while providing patients with convenient access to care.

    First Lady Melania Trump visited with a U.S. Air Force Airman at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, Dec. 12, 2018. Trump recognized and thanked family members for their support of U.S. service members. While at the base the 1st Fighter Wing commander, U.S. Air Force Col. Jason Hinds, gave the first lady a tour of the F-22 Raptor Hinds briefed Trump on the F-22’s capabilities through its combination of stealth, supercruise, maneuverability, and integrated avionics. After Trump’s visit to JBLE, she flew to the USS George H.W. Bush to meet U.S. Navy Sailors.
