Thirteen years ago today, the Twin Towers fell and our nation was changed forever. To commemorate the men and women who lost their lives that day, Nellis Air Force Base honored their memories during their annual Old Glory Run at Freedom Park. For more Nellis stories, check out www.nellis.af.mil.
AFPIMS STORY:
*Reveille Plays*
(MSgt Michael Delwiche - President, Nellis AFB Top III)
Today we're doing the Old Glory Challenge and the goal today is to keep the flag going around Freedom Park from Reveille to Retreat. We also have two other locations that are participating as well: Batterman elementary and also at Creech Air Force Base.

I think it's important to remember nine eleven every year, again, to look back. I think it was a time where we're, somewhat as a nation, a little bit complacent that the fight would never come over here. As we move on to the future we have to realize that the fight is real. We need to protect our soil, and again, adjust our tactics to prevent any future occurrences.

I think it's a great way for units to come out; a good team building exercise for units to, again, achieve our goal which is to keep the flag moving the entire workday.

I hope they understand, again, one team one fight. You know, we need to come together as we're doing today with this event here, but also as a military, to prepare for the future, to prepare for what our future endeavors may be. And again, to continue to defend our great country.
