    Soldiers, Airmen return from Haiti relief mission

    A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III from Dover Air Force Base, Deleware, transported about 20 membersof the 689th Rapid Port Opening Element from Haiti to Joint Base Langley-Eustis Oct. 20, 2016. The Soldiers spent about two weeks supporting disaster relief and humanitarian assistance efforts as a result of Hurricane Matthew.

    Holloman’s weather warriors support Operation Inherent Resolve

    The 49th Operations Group weather flight at Holloman Air Force Base supported Operation Inherent Resolve in January 2016 by sending three of its weather warriors to Southwest Asia.

    335th FS, 4th MXG Airmen return home

  • U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Robert Otto, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, visited the 480th ISR Wing and 497th ISR Group for the last time, October 5, 2016 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. General Otto is scheduled to retire from active duty this month and has been a part of the ISR community as a U2 pilot, Director, AF ISR Capabilities Office, AF ISR Agency Commander and has been in his current position for the past three and a half years.

    Winning the good fight – MSgt earns second Bronze Star

    After serving 16 deployments throughout the course of his career, one Airman earned a second Bronze star after being called upon once more. While being stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., Master Sgt. Ronald Bartsch, 633rd Communications Squadron cyber transport superintendent, left for two deployments to Southwest Asia for the United States Special Operations Command in support of a task force for Operation Inherent Resolve Sept. 22 to Nov. 2, 2014 and May 25 to Sept. 7, 2015.

    SJ begins recovery from Hurricane Matthew

    More than 40 F-15E Strike Eagles from the 4th Fighter Wing and five KC-135R Stratotankers from the 916th Air Refueling Wing were repositioned to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, Oct. 6, 2016, as a precautionary measure due to Hurricane Matthew. The 916th provided support to the more than 200 support personnel from the 4th FW by evacuating Airmen in several of their aircraft, along with equipment that was repositioned to Barksdale AFB.

    U.S. National Data Center team reopens channels with Spain

    A group of scientists from the Air Force Technical Applications Center traveled to Spain to meet with seismic experts. Senior Executive Service Director of the U.S. National Data Center Dave Merker, met with members of the Instituto Geográfico Nacional to discuss the possibility of future information sharing on the 20th anniversary of AFTAC’s transfer of Detachment 313 Sonseca Seismic Station to the IGN.

    Despite storm threat, treaty monitoring mission continued, uninterrupted

    AFTAC, the Department of Defense’s sole organization dedicated to nuclear treaty monitoring and nuclear event detection, marshaled its contingency operations team Oct. 4 to deploy to its alternate operating facility in Texas. Our national decision makers rely on us and our ability to provide uninterrupted 24/7 access to potential nuclear events around the world, and we go to great lengths to ensure we provide and deliver those capabilities to our senior leaders.
