Air Combat Command Moments

You've heard it before - "wash your hands," "slow the spread," "flatten the curve," "do your part." We all need to do our part in slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus. Since the virus isn't visible, it can be difficult to understand why these measures are important. A recent popular post on social media reads, “Have you ever come into contact with glitter? … And how for the next two weeks it hangs around forever and ends up on surfaces you can’t recall touching? … Think of [the novel coronavirus] as glitter.” Here's a video to illustrate that!
A message from Lt Gen Timothy Haugh from Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber) on the recent telework posture.
How do you stand “shoulder to shoulder” in a time of COVID-19? For the United States Air and Space Forces, and indeed the entire United States military, this is no small question. It is so pressing, in fact, that the Air Force’s medical staff, in collaboration with experts nationwide, have been working nearly around the clock to answer it. It’s not hard to understand why.
U.S. Air Force Gen. Mike Holmes, the commander of Air Combat Command, makes a statement regarding Coronavirus COVID-19 on March 13, 2020, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
The active duty 388th Fighter Wing and Reserve 419th Fighter Wing are continuing to train and fly the F-35A Lightning II despite the current global Coronavirus outbreak in segmented operations that allows separation between groups of Airmen who may be needed to deploy at any time.
Have questions about the difference between quarantine and isolation? Dr. Travis Russell, our public health expert, is here to break it down.
Building upon previously enacted movement restrictions governing foreign travel, permanent change of station moves, temporary duty and personal leave, this stop movement order will also impact exercises, deployments, redeployments and other global force management activities. Approximately 90,000 Service Members slated to deploy or redeploy over the next 60 days will likely be impacted by this stop movement order.
These may be uncertain times for our generation, but we are not without hope or encouragement. While some things are out of our control, we are in this together and can remain gracious and respectful to everyone. The Joint Base Langley-Eustis Chaplain Team is here to walk with you and bring you the online resources you may need. (U.S. Air Force video by 2nd Lt. Sam Eckholm)
COVID-19’s rampant spread around the world has men and women everywhere taking extra precautions to protect and provide for their families. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, school liaison officer Alan “Chief Nix” Niksich, from the 366th Force Support Squadron, continues to work and take care of Airmen and their families.
Airmen in the United States Air Force continue to remain mission-ready. This video footage highlights Airmen from Beale Air Force Base, Calif. Footage includes primarily the U-2 Dragon Lady, but also shows a pilot in front of the T-38 Talons.
The Defense Department is working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services and State Department to provide support in dealing with the coronavirus outbreak. Service members and their families should visit https://media.defense.gov/2020/mar/13/2002264688/-1/-1/1/FAQ_travel_restrictions.pdf for continuously updated information on the restrictions.
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. During these challenging times, Lt. Col. Steve Cuneio, 23d Wing chaplain, is here to help you find perspective.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases.
This video spot was made to remind service members of a free, non-DOD text hotline that is available 24/7 for any kind of emergency.
