  • 365th ISRG breaking ground for new Nellis AFB facility

    The 365th Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group began construction of its new facility at Nellis Air Force Base with a groundbreaking ceremony March 25, 2021. The project will create a future training facility where several intelligence and training missions will converge.
  • 616 OC demonstrates cyber capabilities to ACC leaders

    U.S. Air Force Gen. Mark Kelly, commander of Air Combat Command and Command Chief Master Sgt. David Wade, Air Combat Command, visited the cyber and intelligence Airmen of 16th Air Force (Air Forces Cyber), here, March 2-4. The 616th Operations Center Airmen demonstrated their role in monitoring and maintaining the Air Force Information Network to the visiting leaders during a 616 OC cyber tabletop exercise demonstration and a series of cyber and Intelligence briefings.

    Brig. Gen. Sharon Bannister, command surgeon of Air Combat Command and Lt. Col. Michael McCarthy, ACC mental health branch chief, virtually discussed staying remote and ready, with ACC Public Affairs Oct. 6, 2020. A few of the primary topics that were discussed with Bannister and McCarthy are the reluctance of reporting when having symptoms related to COVID-19 and testing availability, and, with flu season approaching, how do we determine one over the other.
  • AFTAC uses technology to execute Change of Command

    The Air Force Technical Applications Center here underwent a change of command, employing modern-day technology to accomplish long-standing traditions. Col. Chad Hartman relinquished command to Col. Katharine Barber as 16th Air Force commander Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh served as the presiding officer via video teleconference from San Antonio, Texas, with immediate family members and a small handful of senior leadership in attendance at Patrick AFB’s Sharkatorium.

    The 16th Weather Squadron is leading the way, reorganizing to become the 557th Weather Wing’s dedicated software and innovation squadron, a move that will generate new insights on environmental intelligence for combatant commanders around the globe.     A 2nd Weather Squadron Airman stationed in Australia is crafting hope in her local community in the midst of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Staff Sgt. Kalynn Mitchell, a 2nd WS solar analyst at Learmonth Solar Observatory in Exmouth, Western Australia, is using her sewing machine and fabric from a local hardware store to create face masks for medical workers and others at risk in the community.

Their mission was to tell the Air Force Weather story at Live on Green!, a free entertainment and education event that precedes the annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl football game.
