  • Intel analysis cells continue worldwide support amid COVID-19

    Across the globe, there have been significant changes to daily life since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. With new protocols in place, the Department of Defense has directed continual operations, and Team Offutt is doing its part to ensure the mission never stops by still generating flights, preparing for deployments and conducting training. The 55th Intelligence Support Squadron’s Electronic Intelligence Processing and Analysis Cell and Omaha Signals Analysis Laboratory, are continuously producing intelligence reports for national and theater commander requirements.
  • Warhorses gallop steadfast through COVID-19

    Warhorses in the middle ages were known as cavalry warriors, they came in different sizes, types and were used for various forms of warfare, reconnaissance, raiding, communication, or supply. Unlike the four-legged equine Warhorses of the past, the 55th Logistics Readiness Squadron continues to help maintain the mission of the 55th Wing, getting the right parts and fuels products to the right place.
  • First deployed Airmen return during COVID-19

    The first group of 55th Wing Airmen to return from overseas since the COVID-19 pandemic began arrived here May 4, 2020. The Airmen are with the 45th Reconnaissance Squadron and deployed to Kadena Air Base, Japan, providing RC-135U Combat Sent operations.
  • Intel squadron continues to make mission happen through COVID-19

    The 97th Intelligence Squadron continues to provide worldwide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support to combatant commanders around the globe despite the constraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The mission of the 97th is to provide mission-qualified aircrew for all variants of the RC-135 aircraft.
  • 100th ARW supports 95 RS

    The 100th Air Refueling Wing refueled an RC-135 Rivet Joint assigned to the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron Feb. 26, 2020. The Bloody Hundredth is the only permanent U.S. air refueling wing in the European theater, providing the critical air refueling "bridge" which allows the Expeditionary Air Force to deploy around the globe at a moment's notice.
  • Offutt wreath ceremony: remembers, honors

    The annual Wreaths Across America ceremony was held Dec. 14, 2019, at the Offutt Air Force Base cemetery. Wreaths now lean on each headstone, with eight ceremonial wreaths on large easels prominently placed at the front of the cemetery, honoring the four armed services, the Coast Guard, the Merchant Marines, POW/MIA, and a newly integrated wreath that honors the 22 veterans and active duty service members who take their lives each day.
  • 557th WW realigns under new information warfare NAF

    The 557th Weather Wing has been reassigned to the Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber). The 557th joins the 55th Wing and other units whose missions fall under the new Information Warfare NAF.
  • Offutt Fire Station updates, renovates

    Offutt Air Force Base Fire Station 2, originally built in May 1972 and located off-base near Rising View, is currently undergoing a $1.3 million renovation that began earlier this year. This facility upgrade that will provide firefighters adequate living quarters while on call and the space they need for readiness and training. Additionally, while the renovations are occurring, they are co-habituating a local fire station and partnering with our local community.

  • Military working dogs stamp their place in history

    The Military Working Dog stamp was unveiled as the U.S. Postal Service’s newest stamp during the American Philatelic Society’s 133rd annual convention Aug. 1, 2019, at the Catholic Health Initiatives Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
