11/30/2009 - LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. (ACCNS) -- Air Combat Command officials revealed the best food service operations in the command when they announced the winners of the ACC 2010 John L. Hennessy Award, Nov. 25.
The 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., took top honors in the multiple-facility category, and the 355th Fighter Wing at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., won best in the single-facility category.
"Although nominees throughout the command should be commended for their high-quality programs, outstanding teamwork and dedicated customer service, Offutt and Davis-Monthan clearly separated themselves from other operations in ACC," said Col. Jeffrey Yocum, chief of Services Division, ACC Directorate of Manpower, Personnel and Services.
Founded in 1956, the Hennessy Trophy Awards Program promotes excellence in food service support and customer service within the Air Force through quality improvements, recommendations and information exchange with industry partners, according to the Hennessy Travelers Association Educational Foundation Web site.
"It takes a full-up effort to receive this recognition, with outstanding leadership support, tremendous attention to detail and top-to-bottom customer service focus," Colonel Yocum said.
After being recognized as the command's best, the 55th WG and 355th FW will go on to represent ACC in the 2010 Air Force Hennessy Award competition.
"We're very excited about our winners and very optimistic about their chances to bring home Air Force honors," Colonel Yocum said.
