The Department of the Air Force announced the renaming of the Air Combat Command A6 Directorate from Cyberspace and Information Dominance to the Directorate of Cyberspace Operations and Warfighting Communications.

The change reflects the evolving mission and responsibilities of the organization as well as its commitment to providing enhanced cyber capabilities and support to Airmen, Guardians, and joint forces.

“In the Air Force we do cyberspace operations---offensive and defensive--and we do warfighting communications, which includes enterprise information technology and deployable combat comm,” said Gen. Jeffrey Phillips, director of Cyberspace Operations and Warfighting Communications.

ACC A6 not only executes its mission to organize, train, and equip its own Airmen, but will continue to focus on the culture of the organization. This new designation will better enable A6 to support the Air Force's mission of global vigilance, reach, and power and more effectively meet the needs of airmen and joint forces operating in multifaceted and challenging environments.

“My goal in every organization that I’ve led is to make every Airman feel like a valued member of a high-performing team that does something important,” said Phillips. “I think this [renaming] will help them see how they fit into the bigger Air Force mission, specifically what we’re doing here at ACC.”
