Team Moody participated in the first quarter Comprehensive Airman Fitness day, targeting the social pillar, on April 29.

The day was designed for Airmen to develop and maintain relationships showcased through various events. Approximately 30 of Moody’s clubs were present for Airmen to seek their interests and network with peers.

“It is very important to find people with similar interests in general,” said Airman 1st Class Camille Hernandez, 23d Logistics Readiness Squadron traffic management apprentice.  “It helps time go by and things feel easier. In our work field, it gets stressful, [but] when you find a group of people who love to do the same things as you, then it’s like being at peace.

“The effort to put in our free time to make these clubs is part of the foundations of  positive relationships being built and it’s all because of CAF day,” Hernandez added.

According to Col. Thomas Kunkel, 23d Wing commander, he was proud of the Airmen’s contributions to initiate the club activities during the day.

“[CAF day] is about connectivity and accelerating the chance of making this the best base possible,” said Kunkel. “Take this time to get out, make new friends and find activities you like to do.”

Before enjoying the festivities, units were challenged to participate in activities to allow Airmen to exchange ideas, views and experiences among their work peers.

“We discussed being personally responsible by being better wingmen through communication,” said Senior Airman Matthew Ellison, 723d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron instrument flight control system journeyman. “We learned that supportive, positive contact with our peers makes the work dynamics smoother and allows work to be done more efficiently.

“Socially interacting while showing genuine care and interest can make a huge difference and any time we have a chance to strengthen the workplace bond is good,” Ellison added.

While individual units socialized, Chief Master Sgt. David Kelch, 23d Wg command chief, visited the units to commend their ability to engage and be involved outside of their day-to-day operations and technical proficiencies that they bring to the fight every day.

Kelch and other members of Moody’s Chief’s group provided a free lunch for the Airmen in attendance to show appreciation for the wing’s hard work.

“[Airmen here] have been doing amazing things at both home and down range with the mission,” said Kelch. “We wanted to give Airmen an enjoyable environment and show our appreciation with food and fun.”

After the meal, followed by Kunkel hosting a commander’s call, Airmen were released to continue networking and making friends by visiting the stations of their interests to include a dance, medieval, antique car collections and cross-fit clubs.

As the festivities concluded, Kunkel urged Airmen to utilize these abundant opportunities to improve their social interactions and enhance their well-being and quality of life.
