319th Medical Group to reorganize base clinic Published Aug. 8, 2019 By Senior Airman Elijaih Tiggs 319th Reconnaissance Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Grand Forks Air Force Base’s Medical Group is preparing to reorganize the base clinic into two separate squadrons to simultaneously focus on medically-ready warfighters and providing world-class care to beneficiaries. This reorganization will provide dedicated care teams in the Operational Medical Readiness Squadron to proactively treat Total Force Airmen. Separate provider teams within the Health Care Operations Squadron will care for non-active duty patients. The upcoming change is scheduled to take place this fall. “Maintaining excellent care is still our focus; this is the most effective way for us to help Airmen and their families,” said Col. Johnathan Compton, 319 MDG commander. “Our Airmen will be cared for specifically under the Operational Medical Readiness Squadron while dependents and other beneficiaries will receive care in the Health Care Operations Squadron. This alignment helps maintain access and quality standards while ensuring warfighter and mission effectiveness.” Each squadron will have provider teams dedicated to its enrolled patients and their specific health care issues, ensuring the needs of all patients are met. “As this reorganization takes place, it falls in line with the rotation of our new Primary Care Managers, so some patients may be assigned to a different provider,” said Compton. “Otherwise the transition to OMRS and HCOS will be seamless in that all beneficiaries will still be able to receive exceptional and timely care.” The next phase of Medical Health System reforms will administratively transition the Medical Treatment Facilities of all military services to Defense Health Agency responsibility Oct. 1, 2019. As more updates are made available, they will be shared on our website, www.grandforks.af.mil, as well as the base Facebook page, Grand Forks Air Force Base, and the 319 MDG Facebook page, AFMS – Grand Forks – 319th Medical Group.
