ACC launches F/A-22 Web site

  • Published
Air Combat Command Public Affairs has launched an F/A-22 Raptor Web site dedicated to providing information about the aircraft and the warfighters affiliated with it.

The F/A-22 is the latest air superiority fighter in the Air Force inventory and is considered crucial to the successful execution of U.S. national defense strategy by Air Force leaders.

Every air force that doesnt like our country is out there trying to figure out how to beat U.S. air power -- the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Army aviation, said Gen. John P. Jumper, Air Force chief of staff. The way they are trying to do it on the cheap is to invent surface-to-air missiles that can detect stealth airplanes. This is why we need a high-end aircraft, and why I push so hard for the capabilities that we have in the F/A-22.

The F/A-22 Web site will serve as a valuable tool in educating people about the F/A-22 program, said Maj. Roger Lawson, chief of the ACC Public Affairs internal information division.

In addition to information from ACC, the site offers stories from other parts of the Air Force such as Air Education and Training Command and Air Force Materiel Command.

The site features a story summary at the top. The story is accessible by clicking on the full story link under the summary. Below that are two other sections -- News, which contains links to other stories previously posted on the site, and Hot Topics. A column on the right has two sections: F/A-22 Links and Other Links. The F/A-22 Links section has links to the aircrafts history, fact sheet, features, photo gallery and program schedule. Other Links include alternate information sites, including the Web sites for the Air Forces major commands.

The potent combination of advanced technologies and the capabilities of our pilots, maintainers, munitions experts, intelligence specialists -- and many others -- are what make the F/A-22 Americas premier air-dominance weapon system, Major Lawson said. By compiling the stories about the F/A-22 and the people affiliated with it in one location, we hope to truly educate people about the Raptors importance to national defense and how it will affect everyone serving in the Air Force.
