Bringing Heat: 6th CTS simulation facility keeps JTACs sharp
A joint terminal attack controller with the 18th Air Support Operations Squadron, Ft. Drum, N.Y., plays the role of a simulated A-10 Thunderbolt II pilot maneuvering his aircraft over a virtual battlespace in accordance with guidance transmitted to him by a JTAC Qualification Course student during a close air support training scenario inside the 6th Combat Training Squadron’s JTAC virtual training facility at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., April 29, 2015. Using a series of integrated simulators, instructors are able to take control of various assets in the battlespace and manipulate them in ways that directly reflect the actions of a student calling shots from a simulator dome just steps away.
