LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- Cone devices are placed on peer poles near the airfield here where birds would perch, loof or roost. They are placed by the BASH team, which stands for Bird and Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard, to lower the bird activity. This in turn lowers the chances of bird strikes with aircraft.
