Air Force Fall Prevention Focus hits home

One Airman or Space Professional lost to a fall mishap is one too many. Since 2015 there have been 15 fatalities and permanent disabilities caused by on and off-duty falls in the Air Force. That’s one of the many reasons we are passionate about fall prevention. Take some time to focus on fall prevention July 20-24 using this year’s Air Force theme, “Calling All Fall Prevention Warriors!”

Bring Safety Home

Air Force motorcycle mishaps hit historic lows

Recently, the Air Force achieved a significant safety milestone when motorcycle mishaps reached historic lows. In fiscal year 2019, the Air Force saw a 69 percent reduction in motorcycle fatalities and 41.5 percent decrease in lost time injuries over 10 years. Fatalities dropped from 13 in 2010 to a record low four in 2019 and lost time injuries during that same period decreased from 224 to 131.

Air Force Safety Center released a mobile version of the Airman Safety App enabling Airmen at installations Air Force wide to voluntarily report safety issues with their devices as they encounter them.

Keep the safety momentum going strong all summer

Since starting the Quest for Zero campaign in 2014, we’ve seen an approximate 30% reduction in occupational on-the-job injuries. My hope for this summer is that we carry that safety momentum over into the fun and relaxing off-duty activities we participate in with friends and family. An even better goal is to keep building that safety mindset all the way to the end of summer and beyond.
