    First Lady Melania Trump visited with a U.S. Air Force Airman at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, Dec. 12, 2018. Trump recognized and thanked family members for their support of U.S. service members. While at the base the 1st Fighter Wing commander, U.S. Air Force Col. Jason Hinds, gave the first lady a tour of the F-22 Raptor Hinds briefed Trump on the F-22’s capabilities through its combination of stealth, supercruise, maneuverability, and integrated avionics. After Trump’s visit to JBLE, she flew to the USS George H.W. Bush to meet U.S. Navy Sailors.

    The 347th and 563d Rescue Groups from Moody Air Force Base, Ga., Nellis AFB, Nev., and Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., sent rescue boat teams to Orange County, Texas, and the surrounding areas in support of FEMA during Hurricane Harvey disaster response efforts.

    Editor’s note: The following commentary was written in observance of National Mental Health Month. Although “wingmanship” is something I live every day now as an Airman, the concept is something I have been familiar with my entire life. I specifically remember a moment this came into play when I was a 16-year-old assistant Cub Scout leader. We were in the woods and I had sent my pack of eight-year-old Cub Scouts on a mission to find branches to whittle into slingshots. “Remember to look for strong, mendable tree branches!” I shouted to them.

    National Nutrition Month is an educational campaign organized every March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which is designed to emphasize the importance of developing and maintaining healthy eating choices and physical activity habits. This year’s theme for the campaign is "Put Your Best Fork Forward," which acts as a reminder that each bite counts and how simple changes in food choices can have positive effect over time. The theme is geared toward encouraging individuals to start with small changes in eating habits, such as preparing meals at home or making healthy selections while out.

    A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III from Dover Air Force Base, Deleware, transported about 20 membersof the 689th Rapid Port Opening Element from Haiti to Joint Base Langley-Eustis Oct. 20, 2016. The Soldiers spent about two weeks supporting disaster relief and humanitarian assistance efforts as a result of Hurricane Matthew.
