Preserving life - 380th Chaplains preserve life through humanitarian mission

The chaplains’ office from the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing is providing humanitarian aid to families and children in need within the local community by gathering food and hygienic supplies donated from Airmen and civilians stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base. This is one example of how the chaplain’s office is executing its mission while living by one of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing’s motto, ‘take care of our friends’ and the Air Force’s core value, ‘service before self.’

A ‘simple fix’ will save the Air Force a lot of money

In early May, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Tech. Sgt. Chance Cole, 386th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron flight line expediter, came up with an idea – and it’s going to save the Air Force a lot of money. Each time maintenance personnel were unable to replace a spline insert, they actually had to remove and replace a much larger and more complex assembly, the Permanent Magnetic Alternator (PMA). This process had been accomplished multiple times in the past due to an inability to remove a damaged insert and it added unnecessary time and expense.

CENTCOM helps DoD logisticians and engineers “sustain the fight, set the theater"

Logisticians and engineers throughout the Department of Defense converged at the U.S. Central Command Forward Headquarters to attend the Joint Logistics Coordination Board conference here May 6-10, 2018. The board is held semi-annually as a means to focus attention on how to provide engineering expertise and logistical support to military operations, including Operations Inherent Resolve and Resolute Support. With 20 nations that fall within CENTCOM’s area of responsibility, identifying how best to fund, purchase, package and move massive amounts of materials to austere locations is a challenge that requires synchronized efforts from all branches of the armed services.
