  • Army general reflects on ISIS annihilation with RPA Airmen

    U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Paul Funk, III Armored Corps and Fort Hood, Texas, commanding general, visited Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, Dec. 10, 2018. Funk was the commanding general of the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve for U.S. Central Command. This visit was an opportunity for Funk to meet with the Airmen who fly, maintain and support the MQ-9 Reapers that have been saving the lives of ground troops since the start of OIR in June 2014. The U.S. joint and coalition forces have liberated approximately 8 million people from ISIS control, Funk explained, “You did that.”
  • 2018 ACC Meritorious Unit Awards

    The commander of Air Combat Command announced Dec. 6 the ACC units who have earned Air Force Meritorious Unit Awards. Gen. Mike Holmes recognized five units for outstanding heroism in combat as well as outstanding achievement or service in direct support of combat operations.
  • 11th ASOS inactivates after 24 years

    After 24 years of providing airpower to U.S. Army assets, the Air Force’s 11th Air Support Operations Squadron “Steel Eagles” assembled as a unit for the final time during an inactivation ceremony, June 21, 2018, at Fort Hood, Texas. As a part of the 93d Air Ground Operations Wing from Moody Air Force Base, Ga., the 11th ASOS “Steel Eagles” mission will remain unchanged as they continue to support Ft. Hood as they absorb into the 9th ASOS. The enhanced 9th ASOS will continue with the current mission of providing tactical air support to align with the “Brave Rifles” and any U.S. Army unit that needs air support for their scheme of maneuver.
