ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- A E-11A BACN, Battlefield Airborne Communications Node aircraft, arrived on April 24, 2023, at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.
The E-11A is a communications relay and gateway system that provides military commanders with a versatile means of exchanging information from multiple air, ground and maritime sources.
The arrival of the first BACN, often pronounced bacon, established one of the four new mission sets coming to Robins AFB, aligning future Air Force design to prepare for near-peer threats. The mission falls under the newly activated 18th Airborne Command and Control Squadron.
The first E-11A BACN aircraft arrival at Robins, marks the beginning of the 18th ACCS goal to be fully operational by fiscal year 2027.
