Gen. Mark Kelly, commander of Air Combat Command visited the 9th Reconnaissance Wing for a mission, Airmen, and capabilities immersion at Beale Air Force Base, Dec. 3, 2020. The 9th Reconnaissance Wing is responsible for providing national and theater command authorities with timely, reliable, high-quality, high-altitude reconnaissance that influence surveillance and intelligence product and capabilities on a global scale. Gen Kelly also toured The U-2 Federal Laborator, and the 9th Security Forces Squadron where he coined an Airmen for her superior performance and recent achievements.
The U-2 Federal Laboratory is the first of its kind in the Department of Defense, offering a small team of experts tackling challenges through creation, development, acquisition, and testing of new technologies with the purpose of shaping how the service maintains an advantage over near peers and adversaries.
