  • Red Flag-Rescue emphasizes high-end readiness

    Department of Defense assets around the United States began conducting Red Flag-Rescue at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, Aug. 7, 2020. Red Flag-Rescue is the DOD’s premier combat search and rescue exercise. As a joint-force experience, it provides combat search and rescue training in contested, degraded and operationally limited environments.
  • Jolly Green II begins aerial refueling tests

    The HH-60W Jolly Green II connected with a HC-130J tanker for the first ever aerial refueling by the Air Force’s new combat search and rescue helicopter, Aug. 5. This connection marked the start of two weeks of developmental testing of the aircraft’s aerial refueling abilities by 413th Flight Test Squadron testers and their mission partners. First contact was Aug. 5, beginning two weeks of testing.
  • AGILE THUNDER 20-03 KICKS OFF

    The 552nd Air Control Wing and 72nd Air Base Wing collaborated for EXERCISE Agile Thunder 20-03 at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, to evaluates personnel on their ability to prepare and rapidly deploy combat capable forces, generate and deliver combat aircraft to combatant commanders and conduct combat operations in a contested environment.

  • Hill squadron conducts weapons evaluation

    A variety of military aircraft will visit northern Utah as Hill’s 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron conducts an in-depth weapons evaluation known as Combat Hammer at Hill Air Force Base and the Utah Test and Training Range. The evaluation is part of the Air Force's Weapons System Evaluation Program, or WSEP.
  • USAF, USA bring joint humanitarian aid to Beirut

    In a joint endeavor to assist the Lebanese Armed Forces and the people of Lebanon, Soldiers and Airmen from the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Mobility Command’s 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron and 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron on Al Udeid Air Base, and the Area Support Group-Qatar from Camp as Sayliyah worked to palletize food, water and medical supplies delivered to Beirut, Lebanon.

    The 53d Test and Evaluation Group planned and executed a $1.4 million Large Force Test Event, August 4-6, 2020, designed to find solutions to Air Force prioritized Tactics Improvement Proposals for Suppression of Enemy Air Defense, low-observable ingress, and 4th-5th generation electronic attack interoperability.

Not only do they provide support to Airmen, but in a time of need, they also work to find creative solutions to problems the base may be facing.
  • Operation Silent Sentry: 5,500 days and counting

    As space and cyberspace become more competitive and crowded, the amount of signals transferred through satellites grows every day. Each signal takes up space in the electromagnetic spectrum. For 5,500 consecutive days, Operation Silent Sentry has been run by Total Force Airmen from the 16th Space Control Squadron and the 380th Space Control Squadron whose mission is to detect these signals, and monitor interferences in their area of responsibility.
  • AFCENT units train to win the day

    The 380th Air Expeditionary Wing partnered with the 378 AEW, Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the 379 AEW, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, to conduct a regional training exercise. Each wing brought its own specialty to the training, demonstrated through their aircraft.
