Volunteers from the 19th Air Support Operations Squadron work on some of the detail painting involved in restoring a C-47 at Fort Campbell, Ky. The C-47, tail number 42-100828, is a significant part of the 101st Airborne Division's World War II history. The plane was involved in every major airborne and glider-borne assault in the European Theater of operations, to include Operations Dragoon, Markety-Garden and Varsity. The aircraft also dropped paratroopers from the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, now known as the 4th Brigade Combat Team, "Currahees," into Drop Zone "C" at J+30, roughly 1:15 a.m. June 6, 1944.
