Air Combat Command is seeking volunteers to participate in the fifth iteration of SWORD ATHENA. SWORD ATHENA is a working group of individuals from across ACC who come together to identify, tackle and propose solutions to female and family-centric barriers to readiness. This year’s conference will take place March 12-15 at Langley Air Force Base.

“SA23 saw the successful implementation of several programs to include implementation of Lactation Room Sanitary Inspections, the establishment of a Female Fitment Program Office in ACC Air and Space Operations, and a pilot program offering fitness training for pre- and post-partum Airmen,” said Gen. Mark Kelly, commander of ACC. “We are excited to continue to build on this momentum as we focus on reducing predictable stressors for ACC Airmen and their families. This year’s working groups will focus on promoting psychological safety and mental health, single Airmen and joint spouse issues, workplace training, and family readiness.”

ACC Wing and Numbered Air Force staffs, as well as Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve-aligned staffs, may nominate one Airman to participate. ACC will host in-person and virtual sessions for SA24. Virtual sessions will be held Feb. 21-24, followed by the in-person conference Mar. 12-15.

Nominees are expected to present the readiness challenges Airmen face in their squadron and assist in developing solutions and courses of action throughout the conference. Nominees must be passionate leaders with strong organizational and research skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team setting.

To submit a nominee, please send an email to sword.athena@us.af.mil by Feb. 5, that includes the name, rank and email address of the nominee. Once submitted, nominees will receive registration information and be added to the SA24 Microsoft Teams page.
